He served in CO. G, 2nd Regiment of CA in the Civil War, on Feb 24, 1864, copy of pension record in my possession.
HERSHBERGER, EMMA
The funeral of Mrs. Emma Hershberger took place yesterday, the remains being placed for final repose in Beulah Cemetery. She was born in Berks county, Pa., in 1847. In 1851 her parents moved to Jackson county, Iowa where she was married in 1868, to J. S. Hershberger. Two years ago, she with her husband and family of three children came to this county and enjoyed a large circle of friends. She is a sister of Mrs. Samuel Yousse, of our city. Her death which occurred last Tuesday, brings forth many heartfelt expressions of sorrow. (The Thomas County Democrat, Thursday, December 20, 1888, transcribed by Jim Laird)
