His tombstone was never found. He also did not have a will
I have not checked for wills of David (Code E413) or his son David (Code E4134), who, as I understand, inherited the farm at Brownstown but had no heirs. My father recieved a couple thousand $ from his estate. Family legend has it that he funded the Brownstown Mennonite Church, no longer standing. In fact, my father told the story many times that his parents felt "obligated" to attend services there from time to time and on most occasions the sermon dwelt on "the evils of horse racing." My grand father had quite a stable of harness horses with a practice track in the field behind the house and barn.
