His tombstone was never found. He also did not have a will
I have not checked for wills of David (Code E413) or his son David (Code E4134), who, as I understand, inherited the farm at Brownstownbut had no heirs. My father recieved a couple thousand $ from his estate. Family legend has it that he funded the Brownstown Mennonite Church, nolonger standing. In fact, my father told the story many times that hisparents felt "obligated" to attend services there from time to time and onmost occasions the sermon dwelt on "the evils of horse racing." My grandfather had quite a stable of harness horses with a practice track in thefield behind the house and barn.
